The Dusty Scouts of Camp Campy Camp
was a playful art theme camp at Burning Man built around the idea of a queer, dusty, slightly unhinged scout troop. We mix absurdity, nostalgia, and over-the-top aesthetics to create a welcoming space for mischief, connection, and community rituals in the desert.
I co-founded and co-led the camp, overseeing everything from infrastructure and logistics to theme development and visual identity. I helped manage power, food systems, water planning, and shelter design—balancing practicality with maximalist flair. I also helped lead the creative vision, developing programming, activities, and characters that brought the “Dusty Scouts” universe to life. It’s part party, part performance, part chosen-family summer camp—for adults in the dust.
