Hopsketch

Hopsketch is an interactive drawing and hopscotch game that evolves through player participation. Co-created by artist Freedom Baird and myself, the game invites participants to engage with their environment by heeding notes, writing messages, sketching, and hopping through a course they help design. Utilizing simple materials like sidewalk chalk, colored masking tape, and corrugated plastic pyramids, Hopsketch encourages playful expression and reflection on one’s connection to place. The project debuted on July 19, 2015, at the Lawn on D in Boston, MA, as part of a day of innovative art and play activities.
