Tridraphone
Tidraphone was a site-specific musical instrument installed along Boston’s Fort Point Channel that engages directly with the harbor’s tides. As water levels rise and fall, the instrument’s submerged pipes produce varying tones, allowing passersby to create music that reflects the dynamic nature of the sea.
This collaborative project was realized through the combined efforts of architects, engineers, city planners, and fabricators. My role encompassed overseeing the fabrication process, selecting marine-grade materials, and ensuring the instrument’s structural integrity in a challenging aquatic environment. Additionally, I coordinated with various folks to integrate the installation seamlessly into the public space. Tidraphone not only offers an interactive musical experience but also serves as a reminder of our connection to the changing tides and the broader implications of climate change.
